Finished Thesis

I'm Back!

Hello! Guess what?! I have finished my thesis as well as my university degree ~ horraah!

I am soo ecstatic to have my life back and the feeling of freedom that comes with no longer having deadlines to meet is just amazing!

Thank you to those whom have left friendly messages of encouragement over the past few months! They were definitely appreciated during the tough times.

While i was away my blog reached 100 followers! Thank you so much, i will be checking out everyone's blog and leaving messages very soon.

Also during the time i was gone, one of my previous posts has spent sometime circulating Pinterest, which is so strange to me that people are interested in reposting something i wrote, but at the same time is the biggest compliment! So thank you to whoever started this!
OOTD before my LAST exam
Can't wait to start chatting to you all again!

Very First OOTD

Fish in the sea, you know how I feel. River running free, you know how I feel

Sleeveless Shirt: Target $20
Black Leggings: Can get anywhere
Necklace: Sportsgirl charity necklace $10
Belt: Too old to remember

I wore this outfit on a family trip down to the beach.
The whether was lovely, but had the potential to turn brisk quite quick so i was glad i wore leggings instead of shorts. I always keep a hair tie around my wrist at the beach to take my hair out of my face when the wind picks up- which is what happened straight after this photo.

Sorry about the quality of the pic (was taken using my phone)

How to wear glitter nail polish

If you're like me and love all things sparkly, then chances are you have tried your hand at glitter nail polish (pun fully intended)

Personally, i quickly discovered that although i love the glint and sparkle that results from subjecting a whole hand to glitter nail polish that it just isn't for me. Too much attention is drawn to the hands, not to mention glittery nails arent as versitile when it comes to matching your polish to your wardrobe.

Soo being that i still love a bit of sparkle i had to find a solution.
I managed to tone down the glitter and discovered a few different ways to wear glittery nail polish. I have even worn them to professional meetings at uni!

1) The Accent Nail
A personal favourite,  sometimes i even sprinkle on real glitter!

2) Gradient Glitter Nails
For an extra WOW factor. Silver and pink is always a winning combination in my eyes.

3) French Glitter Tips
For an added bit of fun in your next french manicure.

Let me know below your fave ways of wearing glitter polish or if you are game enough to wear it all over!

M.A.C versus Australis : Liquid Eyeliner edition

Soo...a few weeks ago while i was on holiday i decided to treat myself to a visit to the MAC store and picked out their liquid eyeliner in Rapid Black. For the rest of my holiday and for about 1 week after it worked perfectly and was easy to apply.
However, in recent times it has not been doing the job. I'm not sure if it's because i have used it all up or it has dried up??

Since i had fallen in love with liquid eyeliner but out of love with MAC's version, off i went to my local Priceline to purchase another liquid eyeliner for comparison and picked up one from Australis ($10.95)

Above is the applicators for both eyeliners. The MAC sponge is definitely easier to use as it is very thin and can get super close to the lash-line. Using the Australis sponge almost always results in a thick application-even with my steady hand.  However has a richer colour payoff as can be seen in the swatches below.

As you can see in this swatch there is a huge difference in blackness? (ive never done a make up review before so not sure what the right words are). Using the MAC liner required a lot of encouragement to even reach the two faded lines on the left.

Above is me wearing the australis eyeliner to create a winged effect. The colour is definitely strong and managed to stay this way the whole day- yahoo!
Below is a very disappointing attempt with the MAC liner (sad face). I know it is a little older than the Australis but really i feel if i'm paying $34 for eyeliner that it needs to last more than 2 weeks...

So for now i'm using the MAC sponge and dipping it into the Australis liquid although i think i would be happy enough to just use the Australis one altogether.

Has anybody else come across any disappointing MAC products?
I need to know! as i am going to get my makeup done there next week and don't want to purchase products that aren't worth it!

Poppin' Tags (Thrift shop adventures)

Okay so I acknowledge that was a lame choice for a title but hey it seems appropriate

I handed in a major assignment a few days ago so I allowed myself a day of total freedom-
What do I decide to do? Shop of course!
I decided to hit up the local second-hand stores not just because I'm a broke uni student but mainly because there is something just soo exciting about walking into a store full of products that you have never seen before and that you probably won't see elsewhere.      Cheap prices are just an added bonus i guess.

Here is what I picked up.

Both above dresses were $6 (Portmans and Dotti ) and both are super girly and floral-just my style! The more formal dress down below was $10 (pricey, pricey I know!) and I plan on wearing it to my next dinner date with the BF.
My MOST favourite purchase was these safari style shorts by Something Else. I don't know the normal retail price but I'm pretty sure it isn't $4 (which is what i paid!!)

Important Tip: all good thrift shoppers know that you MUST keep an open mind... or else you will miss some hidden gems.
This striped knit top would not normally be my kind of thing but once I tried it on, I was hit with a wave of ideas on how to style it (such as in the first photo of this post)

A $15 short coat and two, $6 chasmere scarves to get me through the coming winter. (I didn't realise they were chasmere until i got home and read the tags!!)

Next, jewellery finds...

I actually ended up giving this little blue rope bracelet to my sister (brownie points!)

Lastly, a CD for the drive home (how could I not? it was only 50c) which is now my favourite driving music!! and a little metal jug which I will use to make coffee.

Who else loves thrift shopping? Comment below with a link to your hauls!

All Good Study Bugs

 ...are outside.

Lots of sunshine
A Bottle of water
A sprinkle of coconut
One banana
A few almonds
And a mini-sized strawberry marsbar!

I am continuously reminding myself that when you need to hit the books (study) for a few days straight, that it is super important to take regular breaks. Not only for your sanity, but also to reduce stress, refresh your oxygen supplies and get the blood flowing around your body again.

Today was lovely outside and instead of torturing myself i decided in my break from study to soak up some sun and remind myself of the little things that make me happy. Above is a little recipe for all you study bugs to try!

What's Trending

Soo my latest distraction over the past week is an absolutely addictive app called Trendabl

It is very similar to the well known instagram except it is purely centred around fashion, hair and make up. It is super easy to search for photos' based on brand/label or type of clothing (e.g. dresses) or even by colour.

I use it mainly as an inspiration journal. I 'like' a picture and then look back at it while shopping for my new wardrobe (...well... maybe just a new outfit since i am living on a uni students pay-check at the moment).

Many celebrities also have accounts, although i prefer to follow less well know individuals who have their own style that you don't see everyday.

If you have an account on Trendabl, leave your user name below so i can check it out!... Or if you know of any other apps that deserve more credit!

My username is Brookeamanda

P.s. It is free to download!!!

What I dream about

Health, fitness and that breathe of crisp early morning air.
Source: Tumblr

I would be a morning person if my bed wasn't soo comfortable.

A couple of years back i was at my peak fitness level. I was playing netball 3 times a week, sport at school and running some evenings with my sister. Everything i did had a movement to it, a little dance, my own way of expressing my use of space. And although nearly every day my body ached with some kind of new pain or stretch, it was the good kind of ache, the one that makes you want to jump that little bit higher, run that little bit faster, breathe that little bit heavier and push your body to the limit.

And now..

Now some years have passed and I'm well into my university degree spending more and more time researching health and disorders of health from behind my computer rather than actually implementing that word 'health' into my own lifestyle. This makes me sad. I want to be at my peak again and i know i can achieve this but it is going to take some super duper motivation and a 'no-excuses' mentality!

I am posting this here to hold myself accountable.

I WILL strive to be the best possible version of myself and i WILL achieve my dreams of health, clean eating and an enjoyable fitness routine.

If you know of a fitness motivation blog that you think is amazing please post a link below for me to check it out as i haven't come across any yet!

Jewels upon Jewels (Ways to Procrastinate no 1)

Diamonds, Rubies and pearls... these are a few of my favourite things...

Thank you all for the lovely responses to my last post. Its joyful to hear that people in the blogasphere are coming across my page!

While procrastinating today i decided to reorganise my ever-expanding jewellery collection (time well spent).

Anyways i thought i had some pretty nifty ideas that people may not have heard/seen before so i took some pics!

Scroll down !

Above are my big and bold earrings. This little tray lives in my draws so that when i open the draw and not looking around for pairs or backs of earrings.

Where did i get the tray from you ask?
Well it is actually from an old box of chocolates! Heard of Ferrero Rochers?
Obviously i didn't eat all 36 myself....hmm..

This here is my arm candy collection.
I have put all my bracelets around the neck of a thrifted blue bottle and then poked some fake flowers into the top.
I think it gives an extra girly feel but i love it mainly because it keeps my bangles neat and untangled.

They look soo pretty so of course i had to display them!

I used to get soo frustrated when my long necklaces got tangled! So much so i never used them. Until i found this helpful little felt coat hanger with hooks that is actually designed for mens ties!

Now i think my necklace display is one of the prettiest things in my room! Try it out!

Lastly is my cute little ring holder. My aunty gave me this small swan years and years ago and my mum only just point out that it is actually meant for rings- how amazing! Im sure you could get one similar if you look in secondhand or homeware stores.

That is everything for now!

Comment below with a link to your blog post if you have done one on jewellery organisation.
